Traditional Distribution
Once a magazine is designed, planned, produced, and published, it is then time for it to be sold and distributed. Generally, an individual or branch, depending on the size of this magazine, would be hired and appointed to solely serve the purpose of planning and overseeing this distribution. They would be in charge of numerous things while planning this distribution, like how it physically does get distributed. This means finding what company and means of air/water/land travel is the most efficient and uncostly with regards of proximity of the shipping address to the location of the printing factory. There can be methods of distribution that`s choice would rely on the audience. This is another aspect of the distribution job, is charting data and analyzing what locations and methods of sale align best with their specific audience. The most popular of these methods include the most common which is retail in stores. This can be stores specifically focused on selling magazines, gas stations, other convince stores, or anywhere else that sells magazines. In the current age, however, a popular way to sell magazines is online. There are different methods to this, such as a yearly or quarterly subscription, or a price per digital copy. The last method for distribution is door to door sales, usually only used for small magazines or specific cases. One of these aligns with the research on the distribution research, in that a magazine selling to millennials would find luck in selling digitally, whereas one selling to the elderly might find more luck in selling door to door. These are the traditional methods of distribution, although they can change for different magazines and are likely to change in the future as more advancements are made.
